Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday hailed the passage of Waqf (Amendment) Bill in both houses of Parliament as a ‘big step towards social justice’.
Speaking at the Rising Bharat Summit 2025, Modi backed his government’s initiative to bring amendments in the 1995 Waqf Act, which has become a point of political contention in the country, with several petitions in the Supreme Court challenging its validity.
“The Waqf has been passed in the Parliament. This is a big step towards social justice,” said Modi.
