India scored two field goals through Sangita Kumari (32nd miniute) and skipper Salima Tete (37th) before tournament’s highest scorer Deepika (60th) converted a penalty corner in the final minute. The win against world no. 6 China was world no. 9 India’s fourth consecutive win in the tournament, enabling them to climb to the top of the standings with 12 points. They are all but guaranteed to finish in the top spot, unless Japan pull off a massive upset on Sunday in the final league fixtures.
China are currently the reigning Olympic Games silver medallists after their sensational run in Paris earlier this year, although the squad in Bihar is a much-changed one.
On Thursday, India registered a 13-0 victory in their third group stage match against Thailand.
