Jaat box office collection day 3: This week, Sunny Deol returned to the big screen two years after his blockbuster Gadar 2. In Gopichand Malineni’s film Jaat, Sunny enters his home turf, yet explores unchartered territories by joining forces with a South producer (Mythri Movie Makers, the banner behind the Pushpa franchise) and a South director.
However, Jaat’s domestic box office performance is only a fraction of Gadar 2’s. The film managed to hit double digits for the first time only on Saturday, its third day at the box office, when it earned Rs 10 crore. That was a minor increment from its opening day collection of Rs 9.5 crore. The collection dipped on Friday as Jaat garnered only Rs 7 crore that day.

As per Sacnilk, the total domestic box office collection of Jaat after three days stands at Rs 26.50 crore. This is over three times less than Gadar 2, which earned Rs 134.88 crore at the domestic box office during its opening weekend. Gadar 2 entered the list of top 10 highest grossers in India domestically by amassing Rs 525.45 crore. Given its gradual pace, Jaat is likely to end up much, much lower.
At the box office, Jaat faces competition from a film made of the same cloth — Sikandar, an action film starring Salman Khan and helmed by South director AR Murugadoss. But even Sikandar has managed to garner only Rs 108.45 crore. But given the current trajectory, Jaat may not be able to even cross the coveted Rs 100 crore mark.
Next week, Jaat will compete with two Hindi releases — Karan Tyagi’s historical courtroom drama Kesari 2, starring Akshay Kumar, R Madhavan, and Ananya Panday, produced by Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions, and Siddhant Kumar Sachdev’s horror film The Bhootnii, starring Sanjay Dutt, Mouni Roy, and Sunny Singh.
