Jaat box office collection day 8: Sunny Deol-starrer pushes past Rs 60 cr, is given ‘tareek pe tareek’ by Akshay Kumar’s Kesari 2

Jaat box office collection day 8: The Sunny Deol-starrer Jaat has been playing in theatres for over a week, and despite being nowhere close to reaching even the basic Rs 100 crore milestone, is already getting a sequel. On its eighth day in the cinemas, Jaat earned Rs 4 crore, taking its nett domestic total to Rs 61.5 crore. With very few Hindi films performing well at the box office in 2025, Jaat has become the fourth-highest earner at the Bollywood box office. Chhaava, Sky Force and Sikandar are the top three earners at the Bollywood box office so far, with Rs 600 crore, Rs 112 crore and Rs 110 crore, respectively.

Jaat started its box office journey Rs 9.5 crore and made Rs 14 crore on its fourth day of release. Since then, the collections have been on a steady decline. With Akshay Kumar-starrer Kesari Chapter 2 releasing in theatres on Friday, Jaat’s collections might drop even further. On Thursday, Jaat saw an overall occupancy of around 10 percent. The film had around 1300 shows in the Delhi-NCR region with 11 percent occupancy, and in the Mumbai region, the film had around 600 shows with 9 percent occupancy. With Kesari 2’s release, it appears that Jaat will lose its shows.

Jaat has been directed by Gopichand Malineni. On Thursday, the makers announced the film’s sequel, Jaat 2. While the makers did not announce any details, it was shared that Gopichand will return to helm the sequel as well.

Jaat’s mediocre performance at the box office comes days after Sikandar’s disastrous run. The Salman Khan-starrer was expected to be a big hit, but soon after its release, the film was hit with bad reviews from the audience. Sikandar has been in the theatres for almost 19 days, and has made only around Rs 110 crore at the box office, which is quite disappointing for a Salman Khan film.

Jaat’s release comes two years after Gadar 2, which became the biggest grosser of Sunny’s 40-year career. Gadar 2 made over Rs 525 crore domestically during its theatrical run. It was after the success of Gadar 2 that Sunny’s career got a second wind. He is also going to star in Rajkumar Santoshi’s Lahore 1947, produced by Aamir Khan, and Border 2, directed by Anurag Singh. Lahore 1947 was in development for a few years but Aamir got involved in the making of the film only after the success of Gadar 2.
