Bollywood is filled with stories about Mr Perfectionist, Aamir Khan, and the intent he showcases in all the projects he is involved with, be it in any capacity. The Lagaan actor has definitely earned that nickname, and to prove that, his co-actor Mushtaq Khan shared a story of how Aamir refused to let things be on the set and went the extra mile to make sure everything worked in perfect harmony.

In a conversation with Filmymanta Media, Mushtaq talked about his experience of working with Aamir on the sets of Hum Hain Rahi Pyar Ke. He said, “He is a brilliant actor; they call him the perfectionist. When we did Hum Hai Rahi Pyaar Ke, all he wanted was a good take. He helped so many people on the set, like Juhi and me, telling everyone what they can do. When we used to pack up, he used to ask everyone to wait for 2 extra minutes so that we could discuss the next day’s shoot.”

The actor’s run-ins with Aamir’s relentless attitude did not stop there, as both worked together on the 1995 Mansoor Khan film, Akele Hum Akele Tum. “I played the role of Aamir’s lawyer in the film. There was a line, and Aamir did not agree with it. He said, ‘It was not convincing enough,’ and I asked him, ‘What to do?’ So for around half an hour, the shooting was stopped, and everyone worked on it, and called people for ideas. Finally, the scene was shot as the director Mansoor Khan wanted to get done with that day’s shoot.”

The actor revealed that, like everyone else, he proceeded to go back home, but he received a rather interesting phone call from Aamir later in the night. “I reached my home around 8, and Aamir called me and asked, ‘What time do I sleep?’ I told him that I got to bed around 10, and Aamir said that he finally got the idea for the scene and he wanted me to read it that very night. I asked Aamir to send the script to me, and while waiting, I dozed off. Around 12:15 am in the night, there was a knock, and the driver told me that Aamir was standing downstairs to discuss the scene.”

The actor then went downstairs to find Aamir “waiting in his shorts, smoking.” When he invited Aamir to his home, the actor revealed that Aamir was considerate enough to understand that it was late and his wife and children must be asleep, and refused. “By this time, several windows around the block had been opened, and people were trying to catch a glimpse of him as he was already a household name after Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak,” added the actor.

In recent times, Mr Perfectionist is leaning towards his role as a producer, with his last performance on the screen being Laal Singh Chaddha back in 2022. He will next be seen in Sitaare Zameen Par.
