Rekha Bhardwaj left irritated after fireworks disrupt her performance at Bhopal concert: ‘Patakhe bahut unmusical hain’

Prolific singer Rekha Bhardwaj recently performed in Bhopal. However, the concert didn’t go smoothly, as she got visibly irked when the organisers set off loud fireworks while she was performing the hit song “Lambi Judai”. What happened next, however, made fans laud and respect Rekha even more.

A video from the concert is now going viral on social media. It shows Rekha singing the song as the fireworks suddenly interrupt her performance, prompting her to halt mid-song. The displeasure was clearly visible on her face. She said, “Yeh patakkhe bohut unmusical hai. Bohut ghalat waqt pe gaye hai (These fireworks are very unmusical. They went off at a very wrong time).” She patiently waited for them to stop and even showed concern for nearby residents whose sleep might have been disturbed by the loud noises. “Bichare jo sogaye honge aas paas unko taqleef hogi (Those who fell asleep, they must be having a problem),” she added.

When the fireworks continued, Rekha called out the organisers by name and asked them to stop the disturbance. She said, “Can we please stop this? Yeh jo patakkhe. Bahut ho gaya (These fireworks. Enough now).”

Despite the disruption, Rekha didn’t let the incident hamper her performance. The moment the fireworks stopped, she immediately resumed singing and completed her performance. Fans in the comment section lauded the singer for her patience. One fan wrote, “She was so calm and patient. Legend for a reason 👏🔥.” Another commented, “Handled everything with patience.❤️🙌.”

Rekha Bhardwaj made her Hindi film debut with the song “Ek Woh Din”, composed by husband Vishal Bhardwaj, in Kamal Haasan’s 1997 comedy Chachi 420. However, she found massive accalim with “Namak Ishq Ka” in Vishal’s Omkara (2006). Rekha Bhardwaj has several hits to her credit, including “Kabira”, “Laadki”, “Genda Phool”, “Mat Aana”, “Nikat”, “Aise Kyun”, “Phir Le Aya Dil”, and “Yeh Ishq Hai”. She also received a National Award for crooning “Badi Dheere Jali” from the 2010 film Ishqiya.
