About 10 months ago, Telugu actress Lakshmi Manchu, shared she is a part of this huge WhatsApp group which has about 143 members from the Telugu Film Industry, including Ram Charan, Allu Arjun and Rana Daggubati, among others. Now, after nearly a year, actor Nani shared details about this group, which he mostly kept on “mute”.
Speaking to Siddharth Kannan, Nani shared, “There used to be a WhatsApp group long ago, but I don’t think it exists anymore. Or maybe it does, but I am not on it anymore. That group used to be quite active at a point of time, but now it is not as active as a lot of people changed their number and stuff. I don’t know the exact reason, but it naturally drifted.”
Sharing how the group came into existence, the HIT 3 actor said, “We all just decided to stay in touch, and we created that group. We used to share jokes and stuff. It was like any general friends’ group, nothing extraordinary like ‘save the country’ or anything like that.” The actor laughed as he said this.
When asked if the group’s purpose was to support and promote each other’s films, the actor said all that existed about a decade ago. “This was about 10 years ago. We used to share each other’s trailer, post it on our social media, and share our comments on the group. Now, that group is not active.”
Nani further revealed that he often put that group on mute as they would spam with messages. “The group included a lot of actors, I always used to put it on mute. All the time, some or the other person used to react to something, it was causing distraction. Humein kaam bhi toh karna chahiye. (We also have to work).”
He added, “Whenever I opened the phone, I used to find about 62 unread messages on that group. So you see that and let it be, and when you open it the next day, you have over 100 messages to go through. You ignore it as you know you are not part of it.”

Previously, speaking to Siddharth Kannan, Lakshmi Manchu revealed, “They’re all actors. So, what we do is, when somebody has a movie, somebody has a teaser, somebody has a trailer, they send it to the group. It’s a given that we all have to post it, we all have to do a shoutout. That’s why we created this group saying, ‘Enough of this animosity,’”
