The Raj Kumar Gupta directorial, also starring Vaani Kapoor, Riteish Deshmukh, and Saurabh Shukla in key roles, opened to mixed reviews on Thursday. Indian Express film critic Shubhra Gupta wrote in her review, “The Ajay Devgn-starrer is wrapped in such a strong whiff of sameness that the first half comes off entirely superfluous. After a string of eye-glaze scenes in which Devgn and Riteish Deshmukh go at each other, you are left clutching at straws.”
Raid 2 faced a box office clash with the Mouni Roy and Sanjay Dutt-starrer The Bhootnii. However, based on early reviews, The Bhootnii is unlikely to pose significant competition to Raid 2 at the Hindi box office.
