According to the India Meteorological Department, a deep depression over northeast Madhya Pradesh and adjacent south Uttar Pradesh has weakened into a depression as of 5:30 AM IST on August 5. It has been moving west-northwestward at 22 kmph, and as of 8:30 AM IST, it was located over northeast Rajasthan, near Jaipur. The system is expected to continue moving in a west-northwest direction and further weaken into a well-marked low-pressure area within the next 12 hours.

Significant rainfall and thunderstorms are predicted for several regions including Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana-Chandigarh-Delhi. Scattered to fairly widespread rainfall is likely throughout the week. The anticipated rainfall could lead to minor traffic disruptions, increased chances of vehicle accidents, and water accumulation in low-lying areas and on roads, IMD warned.
