Ludhiana: A local court has sentenced a person to five years’ rigorous imprisonment in a snatching case. The court of additional sessions judge Amrinder Pal Singh also imposed a fine of Rs 10,000 on the convict, in default of payment of which his term will be extended by two months. On June 22, 2021, Jamalpur police station booked Amit Kumar of Phillaur in Jalandhar and Shiv Kumar of the same area under sections 379-B (snatching), 34 (acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention), 201 (causing disappearance of evidence), 411 (dishonestly receiving any stolen property) of the Indian Penal Code.

Ludhiana: The police have lodged an FIR against three persons for gambling.
One of the accused had allegedly concocted a loot story to avoid paying the Rs 6 lakh they had lost in gambling. Accused Rahul Sahni had told the police that he had gone to Jassiyan Road to pay Rs 6 lakh to someone when he was robbed of the cash. ADCP- III Ramandeep Singh Bhullar said the cops found the matter fishy and after investigation, found that Sahni had lost money in gambling and fabricated a story to avoid making payment. A case was lodged against Sahni and two others.
