Lok Sabha Elections 2024: Gavaskar Urges Indian Citizens To ‘Exercise Right’ And ‘Cast Vote’

Lok Sabha Elections 2024: Former Indian cricketer Sunil Gavaskar came up with a special appeal for everyone while trying to encourage Indian citizens to participate in the ongoing Lok Sabha elections, given that the second phase of voting is slated to take place on April 26 (Friday) across 13 states and union territories. Gavaskar made it a point to urge Indians to cast their votes while commentating for the game between Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 on April 24 (Thursday).

In a video shared by the official social media handle of the Election Commission of India, Gavaskar can be heard talking about the ‘largest festival of democracy’ during the SRH vs RCB IPL 2024 match in Hyderabad.

‘Exercise Your Right And Cast Your Vote’

The Election Commission of India captioned the video, “Exercise your right and cast your vote ! Tune in to Sunil Gavaskar’s voting appeal during #IPL match.”

“The largest festival of democracy is amongst us. The Indian General Elections 2024, with over 97 crore registered voters and 10.5 lakh polling stations, India readies for the biggest democratic exercise in the world. Let your voice be heard. Exercise your right and cast your vote,” Gavaskar can be heard saying in the video.

Coming to the SRH v RCB IPL 2024 match, Bengaluru ended their six-match losing streak with a 35-run victory over the high-flying Hyderabad. On the back of Rajat Patidar’s 20-ball fifty and Cameron Green’s 37-run knock, RCB posted a total of 206-7 in 20 overs.
