The 117-run stand between Gaby Lewis and Leah Paul lasted 150 balls, as the 5th wicket stand ensured a strong total for the Ireland Women, with them struggling at 56/4 earlier in the innings.

“It was good to contribute to the team and with a total like that, we have to believe that we can defends. Gaby and I are used to batting together, we understand each other’s games and it was good to be out there with her for a long time. We set ourselves small targets and knew if we batted long, we would get runs. I think it’s just a scoring area for me and I tried to stick to my game plan. It’s a nice surface with a true carry and bounce, it’s a good total and we hope our bowlers can defend it,” said Leah Paul, Ireland Women batter, during the mid-innings break.
