India vs Germany FIH Pro League Highlights: A clinical performance saw India men’s hockey team beat world champions Germany (albeit not at their full strength) 3-0 in London on Saturday with Harmanpreet Singh, Sukhjeet Singh and Gurjant Singh getting on the scoresheet at the FIH Pro League. Later in the night though, the women’s team suffered another defeat as they went down 1-3 against Germany despite an inspirational performance from Savita Punia in goal.
First on Saturday, the men’s hockey team took on Germany and overcame periods of sustained pressure to keep a clean sheet with PR Sreejesh once again having a good match. Going forward, they were efficient as Harmanpreet scored from a drag flick in Q2 before Sukhjeet and Gurjant scored fine field goals in Q3.

Harmanpreet’s men are in the final stages of their preparation for Paris 2024, and these four matches in London will likely decide the final squad that goes to the Olympic Games.
In the recently-concluded Antwerp leg, Indian men started with a 2-2 draw (5-4 win for shootout bonus) against Argentina, followed by a 1-4 loss to Belgium. In the return fixtures, they drew 2-2 (1-3 loss in shootout) against Belgium before defeating Argentina in a thrilling match which ended 5-4. The Indian women, however, lost all four matches and scored just one goal despite some encouraging signs under new coach Harendra Singh.
