Virat Kohli is the most-followed Indian personality on Instagram, surpassing actors such as Priyanka Chopra and Shraddha Kapoor. Despite having the most number of followers, the cricketer rarely makes an update on the photo sharing app. His most recent update was a heartfelt birthday message for his wife, actress Anushka Sharma, whom he referred to as his “best friend.” While that post garnered significant attention, Kohli subsequently made headlines again – this time for liking a post shared by actor Avneet Kaur.
Kohli liked the post before quickly removing the like. However, fans noticed the activity, and a screenshot documenting his initial ‘like’ circulated widely online. The photo in question featured Avneet Kaur wearing a green crop top and a printed wrap skirt.
Fans not only shared screenshots of the ‘like’ but also flooded the post’s comment section with remarks like, “Kohli saab, what is this behaviour?” and “Akaay beta papa ko phone do.”
Prompted by the ensuing discussion online, Virat Kohli later took to his Instagram Stories to issue a clarification.

It read, “I’d like to clarify that while clearing my feed, it appears the algorithm may have mistakenly registered an interaction. There was absolutely no intent behind it. I request that no unnecessary assumptions be made. Thank you for your understanding.”
Meanwhile, Avneet Kaur is yet to react to the news around her post.
