Chandigarh: The Election Commission of India (ECI) has issued directions to take disciplinary action against assistant returning officer-cum-sub-divisional magistrate of Amloh, Amardeep Singh Thind, for his absenteeism during election duty for Lok Sabha elections 2024.

Chief electoral officer (CEO) of Punjab, Sibin C, said the election commission had replaced Amardeep Singh Thind with PCS officer Karandeep Singh as assistant returning officer-cum-sub divisional magistrate (SDM) of Amloh to ensure the smooth conduct of the election process.
The election commission has also asked for a report on the disciplinary action against Thind to be sent to it soon.
