Mohali: Four-time MP and former minister of state for external affairs Preneet Kaur, after quitting the Congress and joining the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), held her first public meeting with the saffron party leaders and workers from Derabassi constituency in Punjab’s Mohali district on Sunday.
Although Kaur’s name has not been announced as a candidate by the BJP for the Lok Sabha polls, a large number of the Congress leaders and panch-sarpanchs joined the BJP under the leadership of former chairman of Punjab Infotech SMS Sandhu.
Earlier, the former Patiala MP said that the future of the country and Punjab is “safe in the hands of the BJP”.
Giving the slogan of “crossing 400 of BJP MPs” this time, Kaur claimed that by bringing the NDA government again at the Centre, it will pave the way for the “formation of a double engine government” in Punjab as well.
Talking to the media on the arrest of Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal, she said that his arrest has proved that “no one is above the law”.
She claimed that during her four terms as a member of Parliament, she has spent 100 per cent MP funds on development works in the Patiala parliamentary seat.
