‘reclaiming’ Bhagat Singh’s Hideout: Day On, 200 Booked | Chandigarh News
Bathinda: A day after followers of Bhagat Singh ‘reclaimed’ the freedom fighter’s old hideout of 1928-29 at Ferozepur — a monument of the independence movement that sheltered many of its revolutionary heroes —— the police have registered a house trespass case against 200-250 unidentified persons.
The case has been registered against the accused under under sections 452 (house trespass), 379 (theft), 427 (mischief), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 148 (rioting armed with deadly weapon) and 149 (unlawful assembly) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) at Ferozepur City police station.
A resident of Ferozepur, Parveen Narang who runs ‘Narang Karyana Store’ at the ground floor of the two-storey building in Mohalla Shahganj, frequented by revolutionaries during freedom struggle, filed a complaint to the police stating that 200-250 unidentified persons broke the lock of his shop on Saturday, threw various items and decamped with cash.
Narang said he would provide the footage of the CCTV cameras and would apprise cops if he identified the accused.
The activists of Naujawan Bharat Sabha had assembled at the place reiterating their demand to get the building vacated to turn it into a museum and library for keeping the memories of revolutionaries alive for the present and future generations.
The activists said the AAP had came to power in the name of Bhagat Singh, but alike previous governments of SAD-BJP and Congress, it had neglected their demand.
