Chandigarh: Two senior IPS officers who were transferred on the directions of Election Commission have been assigned new postings. DIG Narendra Bhargava, who was transferred from the post of DIG (border range) on March 19 has been appointed DIG (vigilance bureau) in Ludhiana, along with additional charge of DIG (NRI), Ludhiana. ADGP Jaskaran Singh, who was transferred from the post of ADGP (Ropar range), has been appointed ADGP (intelligence).

Chandigarh: Former chief minister and leader of opposition in Haryana assembly Bhupinder Singh Hooda on Wednesday alleged that the BJP govt in the state was deliberately pushing the farmers into losses.He said Nayab Singh Saini govt did not start purchasing mustard, despite repeated demands. “Purchases are being refused on the pretext of moisture. Under compulsion, farmers have to sell their crops at Rs 900-Rs 1,000 below the MSP,” claimed Hooda.

Shimla: Education minister Rohit Thakur, election in-charge of Shimla parliamentary constituency, said the Congress would strongly contest all four Lok Sabha seats and six assembly seats (by-elections) in the state. He said: “Though Congress party failed to open its account in Himachal in 2014 and 2019 elections, this time, Shimla constituency will go to Congress.” He said that the Congress govt under the leadership of CM Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu was people-friendly and women-friendly.
LS candidates to open new account
Karnal: Candidates contesting the 18th Lok Sabha elections from Karnal will have to open a separate bank account before their nomination. All the election-related transactions would be incurred via that bank account. Karnala district electoral officer-cum-deputy commissioner Uttam Singh issued the directions in this regard. The candidate can spend a maximum amount of Rs 95 lakh in the upcoming elections. All the transactions related to the election can only be completed via cheque, draft, RTGS and NEFT.

Chandigarh: BJP chief spokesperson Jaibans Singh on Wednesday claimed that AAP and Congress were in a secret alliance in Punjab and maintaining different positions for political necessity. The BJP spokesperson said the stage was now set for SAD and BJP to contest polls independently, while AAP and Congress were still in a “grey zone”.
