Facing Closure, Pvt Schools To Take On Govt | Chandigarh News –
Chandigarh: The Federation of Private Schools Association on Friday announced to launch a decisive fight against the education department over the imminent closure of nearly 4,500 private schools in Haryana following the review of recognition notices to these educational institutions.
Notably, these schools were given temporary recognition by the department a decade ago and since then, these were operating on extension of recognition from the education department. The last extension was given to these schools in 2022 with an assurance of simplification of rules.
Association president Kulbhushan Sharma claimed that as per govt’s own commitment, the schools had time till March 2025. “But now, notices have been served for review of recognition, not the renewal of recognition,” said Sharma.
“As a result, schools are faced with closure and this will impact the 1 lakh strong workforce and teaching and non-teaching staff in addition to the lakhs of students studying therein. We are making efforts and shall not allow govt to use these oppressive methods,” he said
Instead of simplifying the rules to make our schools regular, the department has served notices to review the recognition. This means the old recognition is under question. We shall knock on all the doors before seeking legal remedy, he added.
Sharma, accompanied by office bearers Santosh Bhargava, Surendar Yadav, Ashwani Sharma and Devendra Arora, also elaborated on how govt had been assuring recognition in the previous years.
Sharma said due to wrong policies, the future of thousands of private schools and one lakh teachers and Class IV employees associated with these institutions had plunged into darkness. Among the likely affected teachers, 80% are women who sustain their families, claimed Sharma.
“An atmosphere of lawlessness has been created in the field of education,” Santosh Bhargava from Hisar said while seeking chief minister Nayab Singh Saini’s intervention in the issue.
