Chandigarh: BJP on Saturday announced six candidates, including three recent turncoats, for the June 1 Lok Sabha elections for 13 parliamentary constituencies in Punjab.
Three sitting Lok Sabha members – Preneet Kaur and Ravneet Singh Bittu of Congress, and Sushil Kumar Rinku of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) – who had joined the BJP recently, have been fielded from their respective parliamentary constituencies.Preneet, former CM Capt Amarinder Singh’s wife, would now be BJP’s candidate from Patiala. Bittu, grandson of former chief minister Beant Singh, would contest from Ludhiana. Rinku, who had earlier jumped from the Congress to the AAP last year and had won the 2023 Jalandhar Lok Sabha bypoll on AAP ticket, has now been fielded by the saffron party from Jalandhar reserve Lok Sabha seat.
